I have always wondered how I can go to bed, and wake up a pound lighter. It has been a longstanding scientific curiosity of mine. It just does not seem to make sense that a person could lose a measurable amount of weight while sleeping. Could it really just be evaporation from skin and breathing? I don't know. But I'd really like to figure this one out.

It has to be water weight. One gallon is 8 pounds so 1 pound is a pint or 2 cups. That seems like a viable amount of water loss...
